Mueve tu cucu

A journey through Southamerica [1996-11-11 - 1998-04-12]

There was a knock on the door, we opened and a member of the staff was carrying our frontbag and was asking if we miss this item. Rather embarrassed we took it and mumbled 'Gracias, muchas gracias'.

We couldn't believe it at all. The first day after our landing in Buenos Aires we had left our frontbag filled with the two passports, thick bundles of traveller cheques and a lot of cash in the restaurant of the hotel and went after breakfast back to our room without a thought, incredible! The months before we finally flew to Southamerica, we had heard so many times from several people, how dangerous this continent would be and that it would be crowded by criminals. An now we had just experienced such a good example of honesty and helpfulness!

After this positive shock we had really arrived on this new continent and flew the next day to Ushuaia, the starting point of our bicycle trip who led us to the north through Chili, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador as far as to the middle of the world, north of Quito.
